Lars Frode Larsen (b. 1948, dr. philos.) author and Hamsun-researcher. Larsen received his PhD from the University of Oslo in 1998 with the thesis "The Young Knut Hamsun (1859-1888). A study in his personal and conceptual development." In addition to his own books, Larsen has over the years made a number of contributions on literary and other topics in books, journals and newspapers. He has been employed at the Universities of Oslo and Tromsø and worked as editor in the norwegian publishing house Gyldendal Norsk Forlag, where he was the initiator and responsible for the 27-volume edition Nye Hamsun Samlede – published 2007-2009 in connection with the commemoration of the poet's 150th anniversary. Larsen's latest book is Nansen and the airships. The story of Fridtjof Nansen and Aeroarctic and the planned North Pole voyage with the Graf Zeppelin (2021).
